SPECIAL GUEST

Minister for Information & Communications
  Minister

INTRODUCTION
This work is a powerful means of communicating with both young and old creative minded, fashion-conscious and media-aware generation that sees information as part of everyday conversation and an integral part of our life. Information is power for the individuals of today’s complex and fast-moving world; man’s creative achievements are written in countless records. To tell it in detail would require the resources of the entire world’s libraries, and no man could live long enough to learn it all. Today the pre-eminence of Nollywood as the fastest growing motion picture effort ever made in the history of mankind, and the confidence of our people calls for a well-rounded encyclopedia treatment of technical aspects. Hence the Nigerian Entertainment industry is growing daily and the attention of the world is drawn to music and movies produced in Nigeria. Nowadays, you can easily buy Nigerian music or movies over the internet and in stores around the world.

The Who’s Who in Nigeria Entertainment series of encyclopedia chronicled “virtually” all the major players in the Nigerian heritage circles. It is by no means complete in reflecting all the people that have made the greatest impact. However every attempt was made to reflect the information published as accurately and completely as possible, thus other sources may also be consulted for more extensive details.

The encyclopedia project has identified 718 key personalities out of the over one million practitioners from film, music, fashion, arts, culture, sports, literary, television, radio and related mass media establishments. All the 718 personalities on the list are achievers and fun-loving creatures. Some are famous for their unusual behavior, others for their extravagance, snobbery, womanizing, sense of humor or controversial lifestyles. But if you are addicted to the gossip columns or weekend color magazines, this encyclopedia will definitely not give you that, because it has been edited to provide basic professional information only; hence other publications could still be consulted for rumors, gossip or related information.

Inevitably you will disagree with some of my choice. I have tried to include the leaders, especially those that are subjects of extensive public and media inquiry. But, with potpourri of talents to pick from, I have tended to separate the media literary, fashion and sports editions to avoid confusion. Experts have noted that the Nigerian film industry has surpassed India's Bollywood, making it the world's fastest growing film industry. But i must acknowledge some of the institutions that have set the pace for the upcoming generations to follow, such as the Prime Time Entertainment, Silverbird Group, Amaka Igwe Productions, Consolidated Media, Wale Adenuga Productions, AMAA Awards, Storm Entertainment, Daar Communications Plc, ThisDay Newspapers, Sun Newspapers and several others.

The encyclopedia will be launched in Africa, the UK, some of the Schengen Territories, USA, and the Caribbean from August 2009 till October 2009. Interested participants and sponsors should contact me directly at admin@nigeriaentertainment.com. Minimum sponsorship is $2000 USD; as a sponsor you’ll be eligible to join the Nigerian delegation to the select countries, your profile and picture will also be listed in the encyclopedia.

I therefore urge Nigerians all over the world to support and encourage the present administration, especially our Honourable Minister for Information in the ReBranding Nigeria Project, for the sake of our dear country and for our mutual benefit.
